DELVAUX Philippe

 

After three years experience as a branch employee in the former Belgian savings bank CGER, Philippe Delvaux joined the Internal Marked and Industrial Affairs Directorate-General in the European Commission in 1979 where he stayed for 18 years.
 
From 1997 to 2006, he worked as Assistant for two Director-Generals in the former Directorate-General for SMEs and then in Directorate-General for Regional Policy. Later,  he joined the Financing Engineering unit in this entitity and was in charge of drafting of the Communication on the development of micro-credit in the EU adoped by the Commission in late 2007. Philippe is the  person responsible at the Commission for the JASMINE initiative, a pilot project launched jointly with the European Investment Fund to promote the provision of sustainable MFIs in the EU. In the framework of JASMINE, the Commission will release soon a practical document drafted in co-operation with representatives of the microfinance industry providing guidelines for MFIs on governance and management issues as well as relations with customers.
