EMN's mission is to promote microfinance as an instrument in the fight against social and economic exclusion by developing self-employment and microenterprises in Europe.

Such a mission cannot be carried out alone. This is why EMN is always very interested in taking in new members.

EMN has three different member's status: your organisation could become either a full member, a corporate member or an associate member.

Whetever the member status, you have to be sponsored by two members of EMN and approved by the Board of Directors.

All organisations, institutions, or NGOs meeting the following criteria can join the Network:

  • their field of action covers a sector of the microfinance industry
  • their interest in developing the microfinance industry in Europe is very clear
  • their mission matches that of EMN.

The application has to include:

  • a letter of motivation
  • the last annual activity report of the candidate organisation
  • the last financial report of the candidate organisation
  • two sponsoring letters from two EMN members

The application has to be sent to EMN who will submit it to its Board of Directors for final decision.

The annual fees for 2008 (calendar year) have been set as follows:

  • Members and Associate Members with a total balance under 1 million euros: 450 euros
  • Members and Associate Members with a total balance above 1 million euros: 950euros
  • Corporate Members: 1500 euros

Being a member of EMN gives special rights:

  • a 20% reduction for all the EMN workshops, the exchange visits, and participation in Conferences organised by the network (including EMN Annual Conference). These events enable you to be up to date with regards to good practices, innovations, legislation changes, the sector evolution, etc. At the same time, these meetings allow further networking with the other members.
  • access to the intranet part of the Network's website. The former contains information intended only for members.
  • the use of the resources of our website for the promotion of your organisation.
  • the possibility of using the EMN logo to increase your visibility.
  • participation in the strategic and organisational decisions of the EMN.
  • access to a database of experts and resource persons in a position to respond to your specific needs.
  • access to EU information concerning invitations to tender, proposals, lobbying actions, etc.
  • the ability to organise consortia with other Network members, in order to respond better to invitations to tender.
