
By organizing its
4th Annual Conference in Germany, the
European Microfinance Network (EMN), the leading professional network in the region, brought together 300 participants, practitioners, bankers, researchers, investors, local government representatives, the European Commission representatives, policy makers, central bankers, private sector and the media.
Under the patronage of the
Federal President of Germany,
Horst Köhler, this conference was held from
25th to 27th of April 2007 in
Berlin. With the support of its German members,
DMI and
EVERS&JUNG, as well as the
European Commission, the
LevisStrauss Foundation, the
KfW Bankengruppe, the
Compagnia di San Paolo,
BNP Paribas, the
Aga Khan Agency and
Crédit Coopératif, it underlined the main challenges face by the microfinance sector in relation to the banking sector and confront various practices.
