JASMINE MDS - Workshops

Contact: EMN

The European Commission (EC) is providing welcome funding and support to microfinance institutions in the European Union. EMN has been chosen to implement a new project within JASMINE called ‘Microfinance Development Services’ from July to December 2011.

By the end of 2012 EMN will organise eight specialised microcredit workshops to provide information about, and encourage good practice in microfinance in the European Union. The subject matter of the workshops are:

*) Public - Private Partnership (PPP) models in Microfinance;
*) Accessing EU programs available for microfinance;
*) Promotion of the European Code of Good Conduct and labelling of EU MFIs;
*) Measurement Methods: Social and Financial performance indicators and the creation of social and economical impact through microfinance;
*) The role of capacity building in the development of a solid EU microfinance industry;
*) Importance of local currency lending;
*) Is there an ideal business model for MFIs in the EU?
*) Downscaling into microfinance by banks.

At each workshop, at least one MFI has to be associated.

Following each workshop, participants are able to ask further questions via an online e-learning platform that EMN has developed.

The workshops are open to all - individuals, micro entrepreneurs, micro enterprises and other people and organisations interested in microfinance in the European Union.

JASMINE is financed by the European Commission - Directorate General for Regional Policy - and managed by the European Investment Fund.
