
When EMN was launched in Barcelona, Spain, on 28 April 2003, the founders created a Board of Directors comprising from seven to eleven members to co-ordinate the network.
Members of the Board may be individuals, legal persons or their representatives. At least four members must be European microfinance operators, and no more than two members may be from the same European country.
Each Board member is appointed for a three-year term. A member can be re-eleced a maximum of two times. The Board members represent a range of microcredit institutions (NGOs, consultants, banks and foundations linked to banks) and specialised organisations.
