EMN was launched with the aim of bringing together microfinance practitioners and people involved in microfinance activities all over Europe. The purpose was to promote microfinance, self-employment, and microentreprises development based on good practices, and to improve the regulatory framework at European Union and Member State levels.

When it was created, in 2003, EMN had 22 members. Today, the network has 90 members and partners located in 21 European countries. These members and partners come from different horizons and represent all the aspects of a growing sector: practitioners, researchers, financial institutions. Amongst its members, EMN has practitioners as well as financial institutions or organisations specialised in research on microfinance. With this membership base, EMN has become a major actor in the microfinance field in Western Europe.

You can have an overview of the sector by country before learning about the main actors. You can also have access to the complete and updated list of our members.
