The research papers deal with one of the various issues related to microfinance in Europe such as social exclusion, specific target groups, financial literacy, social performance, benchmarking etc.
The Selection Commitee received 13 propositions and selected the three best out of them. The researchers presented their research papers in front of the audience of the Conference research workshop moderated by Fondation Nantik Lum.
This workshop took place on 10th of September 2008 from 8h30-10h30.
The final winners of the 2008 Award were announced during the Conference session “Celebrating 5 years of EMN”. They are:
Dr. Karl Dayson, executive director, and Pål Vik, research assistant, at Community Finance Solutions, University of Salford (United Kingdom) for their paper: “Making European microfinance more sustainable – lessons from Britain”.
The paper identifies and analyses best practice in promoting sustainable microfinance institutions (MFIs) based on an in-depth analysis of five UK MFIs.
