Background and mission
Mikrofonden was founded in 2010 by the cooperative bank Ekobanken, the cooperative start-up consultancy organisation Coompanion and the Swedish Village action group network Rural Sweden. Their first investing member was a trade union. Mikrofonden is a financial institution and a consortium consisting of one national fund and eight regional microfunds.
Mikrofonden' vision : “The social economy organizations in Sweden are financially included, with the help of the Micro Fund, through access to financial services and microcredit. In this way, we contribute to a thriving third sector with good conditions for development and social innovation.“
